World-renowned Iranian musician Kayhan Kalhor is a master of the Persian spiked violin, called a kamancheh. Rooted in Persian classical music, Kalhor's work also feels the particular influence of Kurdish folk music traditions in Iran. Kalhor has played with many famous musicians from around the world, including the Kronos Quartert and two groups he co-founded: Ghazal, with Indian sitar player Shujaat Husain Khan, and the Silk Road Ensemble, with Yo-Yo Ma.
